Nobody can hear me in the video chat

Updated:

If your partner can see you but not hear you, the problem is usually the microphone permission, the wrong input device or a mute switch.

1. Allow the microphone in the browser

  1. Click the icon to the left of the address bar
  2. Set Microphone to Allow
  3. Reload the page

2. Pick the right input device

Computers with headphones, webcams and built-in mics may use the wrong one. In your system sound settings, choose the microphone you want as the default input and speak to see the level move.

3. Check mute and Bluetooth

  • Some headsets have a physical mute button
  • Bluetooth headphones can switch to a low-quality mode or disconnect — try without them
  • Make sure no other app (calls, voice notes) is using the mic

4. Test it

Most systems include a microphone test in sound settings. If the level moves there but not in the browser, the issue is the browser permission — go back to step 1. For camera issues, see camera not working.
