What you can do for free

Every new user gets a free trial. You can open the chat, allow your camera and microphone, get matched one-to-one at random with a woman who is online, write messages that are translated automatically and use the skip and report buttons. The walkthrough in how WomChat works shows each step.

The trial has limited access. The partner does not publish how long it lasts, so we won't give you a number either. Treat it as a real test drive: a few conversations are enough to see whether the video quality, the translation and the people you meet are what you were hoping for.

You can start without filling in a sign-up form. If you decide to continue after the trial, you will be asked to create an account, because purchased minutes and Premium need somewhere to live.

When a paid option appears

A payment screen shows up when you want to keep chatting after the free trial, or when you choose to buy Premium. Trying the chat costs nothing, and a charge only happens after you confirm a purchase on that screen.

Before anything is charged, the payment screen shows the package, the price in US dollars and, in countries where it applies, the VAT. If you close that screen, you have bought nothing. Minute packages and Premium packages: what each is for

The partner sells two different things. Minutes are an internal currency that you spend during paid chat time. Premium is a package that runs for a set period, includes a number of bonus minutes and gives access to the full functionality of the chat. One example the partner's chat rules mention: with an active Premium account, showing your face on camera becomes optional.

Who charges you: USD, your bank and VAT

WomChat does not sell anything, store cards or set prices. Payments are processed by the video chat partner through the payment companies named in the partner's terms, and every payment is in US dollars.

If your card is in another currency, your bank converts the amount at its own rate and may add a foreign transaction fee, so the figure on your statement can differ slightly from the USD price. In some countries VAT is added to the package price; when it is, the payment page shows it before you confirm. Prices can change without notice, which is why the amount on the payment screen always wins over anything you read elsewhere, including this page.

Prices as listed in the partner's terms

Current prices are published in the partner's terms, in the section on internal currency and packages. The table below copies what that page listed when we checked it. It is a snapshot, not a WomChat offer.

Auto-renewal and how to switch it off

Some Premium offers renew automatically. The partner's price list labels the 30-day limited offer as auto-renewing and does not say which other packages renew, so read the payment screen carefully: it is the only place that tells you for your purchase.

You can cancel renewal at any time. After you cancel, Premium stays active until the end of the period you already paid for. To switch renewal off:

1. In the chat, tap your profile photo in the top-right corner.
2. Tap the gear icon to open settings.
3. Open Personal details.
4. Tap the three dots and choose to cancel automatic renewal.
5. If you can't find the option, contact the partner's support using the details in the partner's terms and ask them to stop renewal.

Refunds: what you can and can't get back

Refunds are handled by the partner, so WomChat can't issue one. The partner's terms ask you to contact its support first, before opening a chargeback with your bank. If the request is approved, the money goes back to the card or wallet you paid with, and that can take up to 20 business days.

Not everything is refundable. Unspent purchased minutes can be converted back into money; spent minutes and bonus minutes cannot. Refunds are not automatic: the partner decides whether a claim is justified and may ask for proof of the card or your ID. If it rejects the request, its terms note that you can still go to your bank.

• Write to the partner's support as soon as you notice a problem, with the date, amount and the email on your account.
• Say clearly whether you want renewal stopped, a refund of unused minutes, or both.
• Keep the confirmation email and your bank statement line until the case is closed.

Checklist before you buy

Run through this list on the payment screen, before you tap confirm:

• Did you use the free trial enough to know you like the chat? If not, keep testing first.
• Is it a minute package or a Premium package, and which one fits how often you chat?
• Does the screen say the package renews automatically? If so, note the date and the cancel steps above.
• Is the price in USD, and is VAT added for your country? Expect your bank's conversion on top.
• Remember the limits: matching is random, so paying doesn't let you pick a country, and translation covers written messages, not voice. See how translation works.

How this compares with other video chat sites

Most random video chats make money one of three ways: ads, a monthly subscription for filters, or credits spent per minute. WomChat's partner mixes the last two: minutes for pay-as-you-go and Premium for a fixed period.
