Video chat with automatic translation

Don't speak Portuguese, Italian or German? You don't need to. On WomChat the messages you write in the chat are translated automatically into your partner's language, while you see each other live on camera.

Automatic

No copy-pasting into a translator: messages arrive already translated.

International

Talk with women from more than 100 countries.

Text + video

Write to understand each other, use the camera to connect.

Try it: how your message arrives

Hi! Where are you connecting from?

She reads: Oi! De onde você está se conectando?

Example with pre-translated phrases. In the chat, written messages are translated automatically; voice is not.

How a translated conversation looks

Here's an example. You write in English; your partner in Brazil reads Portuguese, and her answer reaches you in English:

Hi! Where are you connecting from?

Oi! De onde você está se conectando?

From Recife, in the north-east of Brazil. And you?

De Recife, no nordeste do Brasil. E você?

From Manchester. Is it hot there right now?

De Manchester. Está calor aí agora?

Always! It's 30 degrees and sunny 😄

Sempre! Está fazendo 30 graus e sol 😄

What gets translated — and what doesn't

It's worth being precise: the translation applies to the written messages in the chat. Your voice on the video call is not dubbed or subtitled, so the best conversations mix both — you write to be understood and use your smile, gestures and a few simple words on camera.

Tips to get better translations

Machine translation is very good with clear sentences and struggles with slang and wordplay.

  • Write short, complete sentences
  • Avoid abbreviations like 'u' or 'wyd'
  • Rephrase instead of repeating if something wasn't understood
  • Jokes and irony often get lost — add an emoji to show your tone

Who it's for

Translation opens up the whole map: people who want to meet women in Latin America, Europe or Asia, language learners who want real practice, and anyone curious about other cultures. If you want ideas for your first messages, read our guide on how to meet women from other countries without sharing a language.

Frequently asked questions

Does the translator work during the video call?

It translates the written messages in the chat. Voice is not translated, so combine text with gestures and simple words on camera.

Do I have to activate the translation?

Messages are translated automatically into your partner's language; you just write as usual.

Can I use it to practise a language?

Yes. Try writing in the language you're learning and see how your partner responds — it's real practice with a real person.
